Help create a one mile stretch of water vole friendly habitat on the Kennet & Avon Canal, near Pewsey

The Canal & River Trust is asking the public to help it create a one mile stretch of water vole friendly habitat on the Kennet & Avon Canal, near Pewsey.

Join the Canal & River Trust’s ecologist, Oda Dijksterhuis, on the canal bank near Pewsey next Thursday 9 August. 10.30am – 12noon.

Oda and the Canal & River Trust team will be demonstrating how we install the special water vole friendly habitat and Oda will explain how its unique design provides the perfect home for these shy creatures who are the UK’s fastest declining mammal. She will also be able to show you how to spot signs of water voles and talk in detail about the creatures. Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that you will see a water vole, but can provide still images if required.

Parking is available at Pewsey Wharf, just off the A345. SN9 5NU is closest postcode. The water vole habitat is being installed on the canal approximately a 10min walk from here.
