Oxford Canal overhaul on the right path

WORK to overhaul the Oxford Canal towpath in Jericho is set to begin this week, marking the latest stage in four years of waterway improvements across the city.

The path connecting Isis Lock and Walton Well Road will be resurfaced in a project costing £115,000.

Chesterfield – Newly Refurbished Towpath

Visitors to the Chesterfield Canal will be able to get the full canal experience as a newly refurbished towpath is opened.

British Waterways invests in Liverpool Boat Show

New towpath section opens on Montgomery Canal

Canals highlighted in Demos report

Disused urban railways and underused canals are in the spotlight as the think tank Demos calls for an urban ‘Right to Roam’ similar to that introduced to the countryside 10 years ago. Demos would like to see this extended to towns and cities in order to regenerate run-down and recession hit areas.
