Stratford River Festival June 30th – July 1st 2012

The increasingly popular Stratford River Festival will be held this year on Saturday 30th and Sunday 1st July 2012.

There will be live music all weekend, beer tent, craft and charity stalls, family area, boats moored on the River Avon and on Saturday night, an illuminated boat display followed by a spectacular firework display.

Walliams’ impressive Thames Swim

Yesterday we were moored up at Lechade having just celebrated our completion of the Saul to Lechlade Centennial cruise via the Severn Estuary in support of the Cotswold Canal Trust. At around 7:45 am David Walliams passed within feet of our starboard hatch swimming on his way towards Westminster raising money for Sport Relief.

Boating in London during the Olympic Games

Boaters interested in visiting London during the 2012 Olympic Games will be able to pre-book BW visitor moorings more than a year in advance when a when a web-based booking system for visitor moorings goes live in April 2011 to coincide with ticket applications for the Games themselves.

Is British Waterways anti-angling?

Two examples in a week paint BW in a poor light British Waterways – the body the Government wants to burn on its ‘bonfire of quangos’ – really doesn’t do itself any favours where angling is concerned. In fact, it’s bloody hard to believe the body isn’t completely anti-fishing.
